REAL WEDDING Q&A

Get the large decisions out from the way first and when you find your dress, shoes, veil stop looking!

Describe the proposal!

Scott proposed in my experience on top of the volcano in Maui. We share a love for the outside, therefore it was fitting he proposed in this rugged, jaw-dropping environment. I wasn't expecting it and that he caught me unexpectedly. He needed to start his proposal twice! The first time, a hiker walked past and chose to stop right where I was when Scott was preparing to propose. Without missing a beat, he guided me to a new spot and lastly asked. We had been dating for four years and knew we didn't desire a long engagement. The wedding date was set for seven months later – September 21, 2013.

How have you chosen the place for your wedding? What type of venue had you been looking for?

We envisioned a marriage that was romantic, meaningful, and more importantly, represented us. We opted for a unique venue in the high altitude of North Carolina. The Mountain Magnolia Inn is a restored Victorian estate inside a beautiful outdoor setting, nestled in Hot Springs – a quaint little mountain town that provides premium use of the Appalachian Trail, mineral hot springs, whitewater rafting, and countless other adventures. We knew it was the spot. A gorgeous mountain getaway which was close to cosmopolitan Asheville, yet sufficiently small our guests were all within arms reach.

Our reception occurred under a tent with strings of cafe lights swooping down. I had an image of dark, wooden farm-style tables. We wanted our guests just to walk into the tent and seem like they were attending a large family dinner. I rented mismatched china from East-West Vintage rentals in Asheville. The two sisters dressed the tables brilliantly, a sophisticated array of china, flatware, and 2 crystal goblets with gold rims for Scott and me.

How have you decided on your bridesmaid's dresses? Tell us about your experience at FeelTimes!

I sought out months for my bridesmaid gowns. I knew I wanted a coral color, but there are plenty of variations of coral! I just hadn't found the precise coral I wanted. Thankfully, I found the dress within the most gorgeous warm sage bridesmaid dresses also it flattered my tallest and shortest bridesmaid equally. I thought the standard and price of the gown along with timely ordering and shipping was wonderful.

Who designed your wedding dress? Where have you purchased it?

I purchased my wedding gown at feel times.co.uk.

What inspired you when planning the wedding?

I wanted your day to represent Scott and me and our love of the outside. My colors were inspired by the card received from the friend which was a mix of coral, peach, and greens. Our venue, the Mountain Magnolia Inn is a romantic setting and I wanted that feeling to clean over our guests as soon as they arrived. I achieved this with dark wood tables, lace runners, colorful flowers, candles, and hanging pendant lights casting a warm glow in the walnut tree where I was married under.

What was your most memorable moment about the wedding day?

Seeing Scott the very first time! We stole a couple of minutes together before the wedding coupled with pictures taken. He was guided into the room together with his eyes closed. The look on his face when he opened his eyes to determine me and just how he needed to look away while he was getting choked up, caught my breath. I loved seeing his pure emotions.

We did a log cutting to begin the bonfire to represent a German tradition of the couple overcoming an obstacle together. It was unexpected and memorable.
